Ryan Longnecker

Ryan joined Bethany in 2008. He began working with High School students, and now is the director of Crossroads, Bethany's college ministry for those just out of high school and continuing until a transition into the young adult program becomes the best option.

He grew up in Bishop, CA and was there for the first 18 years of his life. It was there his love for the mountains, the arts, God's word, music, and genuine relationships began.

Ryan studied Music Minstry at Vanguard University of Southern California and received his BA with cum laude honors, and as is the case with God, the story was only just beginning.  He currently is studying theology at Fuller Theological Seminary and co-owns a photography business.  Ryans hopes for any ministry is that they would grow, but not by solicitation, but by inspiration and wonder.  Here's something from Ryan, "I believe that in our world,

people can read through agendas fast.  We need to be people of love without prejudice, but not a blind love. A blind love would be one that is gleefully unaware of the dangers of loving someone that might hate you, or would be aloof to the vulnerability and pain that the Christian type of love could bring.  I call people to love God, and people, with all of the risks held plainly in front of them.  We must be engaged in relationship and loving those that need it most, and I think that rather than getting stuck on any type of belief in the finer and minute details of theology, we ought do something that is widely agreed upon while we differ in those regards: love. Love powerfully. Go to God when it is unreturned, and share in that brokenness. Let's be the people that were going to inaugurate the kingdom of God AT HAND. God's will being done ON EARTH."

Ryan has done both music and mission trips to the Navajos, Tecate, Kenya, the Sichuan province in China, Skid Row, and many local organizations, and has hopes that those that are influenced by him will have the freedom and excitement to experience God's work throughout the world, including their own hearts, homes, neighborhoods, country, and this entire planet.
