How has this season been challenging for you?
Hebrews 12:3 tells us to “Consider [Christ] who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.” In what way does setting our thoughts on Christ’s sacrifice help keep us from discouragement?
How does understanding ourselves to be God’s children shed light on the struggles he allows into our lives? See Hebrews 12:5-11.
What does God’s discipline look like? Does discipline refer to punishment? In what way is discipline an expression of God’s love for us?
What does God desire to produce in us through the discipline he brings? See Hebrews 12:10. How does Hebrews 12:12-17 help us better understand what holiness is to look like for us?
Jacob prayed to God in Genesis 32:9-12. What are some elements of his prayer that may be a good model for us to follow?
God used the struggle in Jacob’s life to ultimately change his identity. Who was Jacob before and how did his new identity as Israel testify to what God had done?
