Discussion Questions:

What disappointments have you experienced in life? What do you find disappointing with the world currently?

Is it possible to be discontent for the right reasons? Explain why or why not?

In what ways was Jacob’s superior love for God and radical discontentment with the world put on display in Genesis 47:27-48:22?

What are the temporal treasures that you are tempted to hold on to or pursue? What eternal treasures do you have looking forward?  How does their value compare to treasures here on earth? 

How can you practically exchange temporal treasure for those which are eternal?

How are you tempted to trust in human wisdom, invention, or accomplishment? Why should you begin to rely less on that and more on God? How can you do that this week?
