Discussion Questions:

Read Mark 11:27-33 as a group.

In what way was Jesus interfering with the lives of the Jewish religious leaders?

In what way does the question that they ask him in Mark 11:28 reveal the pride and envy of their hearts?

What difference should the source of Jesus’ authority have made to the religious leaders?

In what do the lives of “Christians” today reveal that they do not fully recognize his authority?

How should recognizing Jesus’ authority impact your time? Your money?  Your hobbies? Your relationships? Your work?

How should recognizing Jesus’ authority impact your response to recent cultural shifts in belief concerning the sanctity of human life, gender, sexuality, marriage, etc?

What can you do to help you more thoroughly recognize Christ’s authority in your daily life?

Why is recognizing Jesus’s authority essential to the Christian mission of making disciples?

How can you pray for others who do not recognize Jesus’ authority?
