Discussion Questions:

Read Mark 13:1-13 as a group.

In what way should the destruction of the Jewish temple remind Christians that Christ’s promises can be relied upon?

According to verses 5 through 13, what can Christians expect to see as they near the end of the age?

How can Christians guard themselves from falling for false teaching? In what way has God already given them the resources that they need to do this?

Why should Christians not be alarmed when they see catastrophes happening in the world? In what way might these events actually be a source of encouragement?

In verse 9 Jesus says to “be on your guard.” What does he mean by that? What are they to be on guard against? Does that mean that Christians should fight against those who might try to persecute them or something else?

In what way is the necessity of the gospel proclamation to the nations mentioned in verse 10 related to the suffering described in verse 9? Should the threat of suffering deter Christians from spreading the gospel?

Why should Christians not be anxious according to verse 11?

Are you prepared to endure to the end? Explain.
