Core Truth #28

Q: What happens after death to those not united to Christ by faith?
A: They will be cast out from the presence of God, into hell, to be justly punished, forever.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God… Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:16–18, 36

Read 1 Peter 3:13-17 as a group.

What does it mean that Christ is Lord?

What does it mean that Christ is holy?

How is Christian hope in Christ directly related to honoring him in our hearts  as holy Lord?

How does living in fearless hope honor him as Lord? (1 Peter 3:14)

How would you explain to someone the hope you have in Christ? What do they need to know?

What does it mean to have a good conscience? Are our consciences always right? Explain. What does knowing God’s Word have to do with a good conscience?

How does keeping our consciences clean, honor Christ the Lord as holy?
