DISCUSSION GUIDES

Community Groups:

Describe a time when you had to wait in your life. In what way was it challenging? How did you use your time while you waited?

Read Acts 1:12-26 as a group.

What did Jesus tell his disciples to wait for? Why was that important?

What did the disciples devote themselves to after they returned from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:12-14)?

What is the value of Christians being devoted to regularly meeting together for worship? How does it benefit them? What does it display to the rest of the world?

In what way did Peter use Scripture to explain what happened with Judas (Acts 1:15-20)? What did it tell them about how God works in a sinful world? In what way should this have been encouraging to them?

How might what Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 19:28 have prompted the effort made to replace Judas in Acts 1:16-26? In what way was this an act of faith?

As you wait for what God has for you next, how are you acting in faith to prepare yourself?

Read Acts 2:1-13 in preparation for next Sunday.

Family Time (For dads, moms and kids):

Do you like to wait? Why is it sometimes hard to do?

Are there times when God asks us to wait? Why do you think he might do that?

Can you still grow up in God even while you wait? What are some ways you might do that?

Why is it important to be with God’s people?

Read Acts 2:1-13 with your children in preparation for next week.

Pray for each other.
