DISCUSSION GUIDES

Community Groups:

Read Acts 2:1-13 as a group.

In what way was the giving of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost evidence of God’s providence?

Who received the Holy Spirit that day? What does that tell us about the giving of the Spirit to Christians today?

Does the fact that these believers received the baptism of the Spirit long after they first came to faith in Christ, mean that Christians today should look forward to being baptized by the Spirit after they have believed? Why or why not?

In what way does 1 Corinthian 12:13 point to reality that every believer receives the Holy Spirit at the moment of conversion?

Should all Christians consider the ability to speak in tongues to be the primary indicator of the presence of God’s Spirit? Why or why not?

What light does Acts 2:11 shed on the real purpose of the powerful working of the Spirit through these believers? What is it that the power of the Spirit within you is there to accomplish? See Acts 1:8 and Ephesians 5:18-21 to help with your answer.

Read Acts 2:14-41 in preparation for next Sunday.

Family Time (For dads, moms and kids):

Do you know what the Trinity means? Can you name all three persons?

Who is the Holy Spirit?

Where does the Holy Spirit live?

What does the Holy Spirit help you do?

Read Acts 2:14-41 with your children in preparation for next week.

Pray for each other.
