DISCUSSION GUIDES

How would you assess the state of leadership in our society today? Why do you think things are the way they are?

Read Acts 20:25-38. Based on this passage, what five actions of godly church leaders were identified in the sermon? Which one stuck out to you the most?

In verse 26, Paul says he is “innocent of the blood of all.” What does he state as his reason for making that claim?

What does this say about the importance of proclaiming the “whole counsel” of God (i.e., the gospel message)?

In verse 28, Paul warns the elders to “pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock.” What is he concerned about? (v. 29)

    1. What does he tell them to do in verse 31?
    2. Revelation 2:1-7 describes the condition of the Ephesian church some 40 years later. How could it have been prevented, or is it inevitable? What can we do to make sure our church stays the course?

Verses 33-35 discuss Paul’s sacrificial love for the flock. What stands out in these verses, and do they teach us about how our leaders should act?

Take a few minutes and pray for the leaders of Bethany Bible Fellowship, not only for our existing leaders, but those whom God will raise up in the future!
