DISCUSSION GUIDES

Community Groups:

Read Acts 16:10-18 as a group.

Have you ever felt out of your element? What places in your life make you uncomfortable with your identity as a disciple of Jesus?

What does Paul’s interaction with Lydia remind us about God’s ability to expand his kingdom? How can you have more confidence in God’s power when you are out of your element?

How can you practically represent Christ well when you find yourself in strange, uncomfortable or even hostile territory?

How should Paul’s interaction with the slave girl caution us about those who profess faith in Jesus Christ? Does her behavior give us a clue as to certain warning signs that we should be looking for?

How are you at listening? What might a willingness possibly reveal about a person’s heart? Why is that fundamental to those who are Christ’s disciples?

How does God display his power in Acts 16:10-18. What should that lead us to believe about his power in our world?

Reflection service next week. Review what God’s Spirit has been teaching you through our study in the book of Acts thus far.

Family Time (For parents and their children):

Read Matthew 11:15 together.

Is listening hard or easy for you? Why is it sometimes difficult?

Why is listening important? What do you think it might have to do with being humble?

Does God want us to listen to him? How can we do that? How can we practice getting better at that this week?
